Bristol-based up and comer Extraction (real name James Stephenson) drops his debut release on LTP’s recently established imprint, Lost The Plot Records.
Effortlessly easing into the Bristol drum and bass scene after moving to the city to study, Extraction’s sound has become more & more refined as the years pass by. Earning him a comfortable position nestled within the folds of the darker, neuro driven sounds of d&b, his productions encompass the techy, hard-hitting sound of the genre while maintaining a minimal & technical edge.
A weighty first release; haunting atmos, crisp, fast-paced hits & slicing pads weave between minimal plucky synth melodies. ‘Navigator’, The more fast-paced of the two tracks is a testament to Extraction’s eye for detail, with sporadic percussive switch-ups, subtle melodic additions and interesting use of fx. ‘Red Sea’ serves up a murkier, rolling vibe with whining pads and catchy grinding melodies wrapped around crisp snares & dark bass.
With support from Zero T, Logam, Kolectiv, CZA, Aphrodite and more, as well as from the LTP family over last few years, we’re looking forward to seeing what Extraction has in store for 2018. You can grab your copy of ‘Red Sea / Navigator’ here, out now on Lost The Plot Records.
PREMIERE: Mark System – Course Of Action
The common theme throughout Mark System’s music is full-bodied drums and heavyweight bass, and this philosophy definitely remains unchanged...
