The hype keeps coming with each and every Adidas release. The king of the Adidas Range is the Kanye designed Yeezy line. Then you have the very recent NMD line, which seems to sell out instantly even when it’s a general release.
Fitting somewhere in between the Yeezy and NMD, is the Ultraboost. Designed for the running market it was quickly taken into the lifestyle world. These are considered to be the most comfortable shoes out there right now! There have been many special editions and collabs, some of which are highly sought after (High Snobiety)
The popularity led to fans putting their own twist onto their ultraboosts, most notably “uncaging” the shoe. For the uninitiated, “uncaging” entails carefully cutting off the famous adidas stripes where the laces run and leaving them looking like a “sock”, then maybe threading some laces through the PrimeKnit upper.
Adidas saw how popular this mod was and actually released a hyper limited Uncaged Edition in conjunction with Hypebeast to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. This was such a success they brought out another collab with Solebox earlier this year! So successful were these releases a general release Uncaged Ultraboost was released last week with a slight redesign, looking more like their NMD “City Sock” shoes. Again these were popular and sold out instantly from various retailers.
This brings us to this week. Not only has a week passed since that release, Adidas saw it was time to release a Uncaged LTD version with color-coded Boost soles. Now, we don’t know how limited these will be, but we can bet they will sell out within hours if not minutes. They will be released in 3 colourways: triple black, triple white and triple red.
These will be available directly from Adidas. Out Friday 15th July!
