Radicall, real name Krzysztof Golinski, has been deeply involved in the drum and bass scene since the turn of the century. Krzysztof began earning recognition in 2007 with a release on Covert Operations. From there he went from strength to strength, and is now a top DJ in Poland. He has released music on labels such as Absys Records, Soul Deep Recordings & Influenza Media as well as founding his own imprint Nightworks Music. Today marks the release of his latest EP ‘Amethyst’ which is out now on Warm Ears Music.
Warm Ears, a fairly new outfit, are devoted to putting together events & releases for people who are in it for the sake of music, something which is mutually between them and Radicall. Iconically titled ‘Amethyst’ is Radicall’s second release of the year, showcasing a sound that not only sits perfectly with the Warm Ears ethos, but guides the listener on a mystical journey.
First off, the title track ‘Amethyst’ is the perfect introduction. Mellow vibes to begin with, gradually evolving into a dreamy roller. You can hear Radicall’s techstep influences seeping through in this one. Next up, ‘Maneuver’ has everything you want from a drum and bass track. Soulful atmospherics, a subtle yet catchy riff, tight rolling drums and an elegant bassline. Third on the release, ‘Overflow’ combines a undulating bassline with a shuffling drum beat, this one for the heads! Rounding off the EP is ‘Warning’. A powerful drum hit entwines around harmonious synths and soundscapes, before dropping in the deepest bass – classy stuff from Radicall!
This whole release flows so well for me, each track stands out with character and leaves the listener wanting more. Intelligent and mature production shown by no newcomer to the game. We are looking forward to hearing more!
