#Back of the stack, catching up with artists in the scene and reminiscing on some of their favourite tracks from back in the day. No real rules, just sharing some musical knowledge and reflecting on the past….
This week’s selection comes courtesy of one of the most multi-talented artists to be have ever been involved in the Jungle/DnB scene. Aside from holding a spot as one of the top DJ’s/producers on the planet for much of the past 3 decades, Charissa Saverio is also an accomplished singer/songwriter, classically trained pianist, actress, model and just about everything in between.
Today we’ve called upon Charissa’s services as queen of the jungle: DJ Rap, to provide us with some of her ultimate old school flavours.
Lil Louis – French Kiss
The first record I ever fell in love with, the perfect house track. To this day, when I’m producing outside my genre, creating tech house, this is the vibe I always want to achieve.
Spiritual Aura (Engineers Without Fears)
This record changed my life. It’s when everybody sat up and took notice of me as a producer.
DJ Rap – Good To Be Alive
This takes me back to a very happy era when I was signed to Sony and touring the world with my band. It was a pivotal record for me, changing my life yet again and shaping my career and changing it forever.
Bang The Party – Bang Bang You’re Mine (Kid’s Bumpin Dub)
Ahh this takes me back to WMC and happy times where I got to meet all my musical heroes in one place. Winter Music Conference Miami, those were the days!
Deep Blue – The Helicopter Tune (Fantasy #1)(1993)
One of the best Jungle/Drum and Bass tracks ever produced. Its beauty and simplicity in production are still stunning to this day.
