‘#Back of the stack’, catching up with artists in the scene every 2 weeks reminiscing on some of their favourite tracks from back in the day. No real rules, just sharing some musical knowledge and reflecting on the past….
This week we caught up with Function Records boss man, Digital. He’s a name that’s been heavily involved throughout the scene since the early 90’s in the blue note days with his groundbreaking track ‘Space Funk’, and has continued to reinvent himself over the years making long-standing classics such as ‘Touch Me’ on Timeless Recording, ‘Lower Depths’ on Photek Productions & ‘Deadline’ on 31 Records to name a few. Here’s what Digital selected when we caught up with him…
Secret Liaisons – Source Direct
Back in the mid 90’s there weren’t many artists who could make a track with soul like LTJ Bukem and then Source Direct came along with Secret Liaisons. dirty, soulful, deep, dark and dubby all in one track. Easily one of my favourite D&B tracks.
Feel Good – Omni Trio (Original In Demand Mix)
Dirty, hypnotic, heavyweight beats and bass.. I always wanted to make a track like this but I haven’t achieved it yet!
Dubplate – Wots My Code
This is Jungle done properly!
